This is how you make shipping jokes in a non-shaming, non-patronizing way. <3
I saw this in this post:
I took it and put it in my own post because I didn’t want to clog the other one with my response.
It’s unpopular opinion time.
Actors in general do not get that involved with their fandoms that they’ll sit there reading fanfiction. I used to work for an actor on a show in the mid-90s who was part of a ship that eventually went canon and he knew about fanfiction, shipping, etc. It didn’t bother him. He didn’t care. It didn’t make him uncomfortable or anything, but he never felt a desire to read fanfiction, nor did he want to answer shipping questions in public. Why? It pitted his fans against each other and made him feel responsible if people responded negatively. So he chose not to talk about it in public even if the concepts of fanfiction and shipping didn’t personally bother him. Jensen’s handling of shipping and fanfiction is virtually identical to the guy I used to work for.
Let’s throw another unpopular opinion out there.
The majority of people—probably Jensen included—don’t feel comfortable looking at incest between brothers. That’s just a fact. And honestly, any kind of fanfiction should not be part of any actors’ sphere of interest. Fanfiction is for fans, not actors. I mean, do people really think Jensen would be interested in brother-on-brother incest? Come on. I don’t even expect the actors to glance at Destiel fanfiction or any other kind at all either. The media asking about it just pits fans against each other, as we see here.
Even if he did look at fanfiction, I highly doubt he’d admit to it—especially in the NY Times—because of the venom between the Destiel and Wincest camps. Misha has talked about it before, how the concept of shipping doesn’t bother him but he doesn’t feel like he can talk about it because he gets backlash. He said he has to choose his words very carefully. So do I blame Jensen for wanting no part of being that deeply invested in the fandom? Not at all.
But for this J2fangirl person to twist his words around into a Destiel thing is wrong. That’s not what he said. Do I think he looks at Destiel fics? Absolutely not, nor would I ask him to as a Destiel shipper. I’m simply saying stop twisting his words around to fit your venomous agenda. He was asked about Wincest and that was his response. Period. Don’t use Jensen as a tool to bash a subsect of fans that you don’t like.
If actors enjoy reading fanfiction, like Orlando Jones, then that’s their choice. Jensen chooses not to get that involved with the fandom and his response was the correct one for him. It’s not a tool for you to be hateful toward people you don’t like. I highly doubt Jared, Jensen, or Misha would approve of the deep divisions and bullying that go on in their names.
Stop it. Just stop it. Disagreeing with people is not a free license to be mean to them.
I agree with all of this. The writers have also said that they are aware of fanfiction, they think it’s awesome, and they encourage fans to keep on writing them. However, they themselves are encouraged not to read fanfics to ensure that they don’t get influenced by them with their own writing.
I could see this being another reason why an actor like Jensen or Jared or Misha would not read fanfics either. They wouldn’t want to get influenced to depict their characters differently then what they feel comes naturally. They want to portray the characters the way that comes out naturally without external influences - whether it be intentionally or unintentionally.
I highly doubt Jared, Jensen, or Misha would approve of the deep divisions and bullying that go on in their names.
And 100000% this. They would disgusted with the fans they saw doing this. The 3 of them are very kind people who adore and appreciate their fans and would be appalled by the bullying.
I’m a Destiel shipper myself. But while incest make me uncomfortable, I don’t go around bashing and shaming Wincest shippers. Everyone is free to ship what they want and like what they want. To each their own. Live and let live.
Ship all the ships!
I’m thinking of trying to bid on a copy of Phantasmagoriafor the PC.
However, the seller has specifically stated that the game will only work for Windows XP or similar and doesn’t work on newer systems.
I have Windows 8. Does anyone know of a risk-free way to get the game to work on Windows 8?
Please respond no later then April 26th!
I got phantasmagoria on gog.com for hella cheap and drm free and it works great because the dos box configures itself. If you buy a physical copy it probably won’t work unless you physically do it with dos box or any other dos program. You’re better off buying a digital copy (or I can send you a exe file of my copy to test) from gog to keep from having to deal with msdos cause it’s a dos point and click.
You said a lot of stuff I don’t understand. lol But yes..we do the thing.
What do you know about Playstation 2 emulators? Mine won’t play the game I downloaded for it. =(

I love the smell of shampoo on a girl’s hair. You can walk past someone and be like, ‘Wow, you took a shower this morning, didn’t you? Because you smell lovely.’
